The Gems &Jewellery industry is rapidly growing, presenting many opportunities to help it expand. There has been a surge of many companies now doing business on the internet and even mobile. Not only do people view diamonds and jewellery online or through mobile apps, but also make purchases, worth millions.

IMRG/Cap Gemini report announced that the online retail market grew by 20%, and in particular, web purchases of accessories rose by 73% compared to last year. Google reported nearly 2,00,000 searches related to ‘jewellery for sale’ in a month and people are online doing their jewellery shopping. Through online marketing campaigns, retailers within the jewellery industry have the opportunity to nearly triple sales.

It was found that less than half of jewellery brands sell online, with another 57% lacking a mobile-optimized website. A fifth lack any sort of email marketing program. Investment in SEO and paid search is dismal.

  • While only 47% of brands have set up shop online to date, less than a third (29%) had e-commerce capabilities a year ago
  • 85% percent of brands are active on Twitter, and about half maintain a presence on Pinterest
